Carowinds Opening Day 2018 Trip Report!

I got up at 7 a.m. and ate a good breakfast! I had a waffle, muffin, cranberry juice, apple juice, and a sausage to jumpstart my day!

I got to the park around 10:15 a.m. and rode Fury 325 four times with one time in the front row!

An hour approximately after that was me filming rides and finding good photo spots for my upcoming Sights article on Carowinds from this trip.

After all of that, I rode Afterburn twice with no wait!

Then, I stopped for a snack at Chick-fil-a and just got a sandwich.

After that, I got off-ride footage of the Intimidator for one of my upcoming YouTube videos. It was very convenient because only 6 locations/spots were needed to record the footage.

The Woodstock Express fence is right in the kids play area so I went near that to record my footage!

I rode the Woodstock Express and Wilderness Run which added two credits to my list!

After, I rode the Intimidator 5 times with no wait, got Starbucks (Cotton Candy Frappuccino) and headed back to the hotel.

Of course, the rain forecast of rain never happened and the forecast of 80% rain all night went to 20%. (This is why I never rely on the weather).

I ate at the Cracker Barrel and had a delicious apple barbecue chicken breast with apple cider, mashed potatoes, and a side mixed greens salad!

The park closed at 8 p.m. because of the rain and cold temperatures which was fine because I wouldn’t have been able to ride much anyway.

Overall, I had an amazing night and I really enjoyed opening day!

Sounds like you had a good trip. I like Carowinds a lot. Their top 3 coasters are awesome. My only problem with Carowinds is that their coasters below the top 3 are not that great. I actually consider Flying Cobras to be their 4th best coaster. Hopefully 2019 will bring a new coaster to Carowinds to give some depth to their line up. You need to travel about 3 hours south and visit Six Flags Over Georgia. SFOG might have only 1 elite coaster (Goliath) but it has 7 really good coasters.

    1. I had a great trip! I like Carowinds too, though Kings Island a little more. Yes, I agree. I wish they had more better coasters. I don’t really prefer the Flying Cobras, but I will be trying it again the next time I visit. I hope they get a really good new coaster. That park is on my bucket list. Hopefully I will be able to visit it soon!
