Today is an article that I teased back almost a month ago. Why so long for the wait? I did extra research and gathered information so I could give you the best guide and insider tips for visiting HalloWeekends.
When Should I Visit?
Fridays are normally a good day to go. The rides will have short waits but the haunted houses will have long waits. Saturdays will be extremely busy. Haunted houses and rides will have really long waits. Sunday will have short waits for rides and a moderate wait for haunted houses.
What Admission should I Buy?
If you are visiting on a Friday I recommend purchasing the Fright Lane Pass if you do not want to wait for the haunted houses long. If you want to accomplish a lot of rides and houses, this is the best option. You do not need an All-Inclusive Pass for the day or Fast Lane Plus.
If you are visiting on Saturday, the All-Inclusive would be a good option. You would have Fast Lane Plus and Fright Lane for the rides and haunted houses. You will also have extra bonuses to make your day easier. I also recommend Night of the Living Fed, all-you-can-eat buffet with tons of ghostly options. You would benefit from all of this because of the excessive crowds.
If you are visiting on Sunday, you do not really need to purchase anything besides your ticket. If you would like you could purchase Night of the Living Fed. Rides and houses do not have long waits, usually.
What Haunted Houses are the Best?
The best haunted houses at the park in order of ranking:
- Eerie Estate
- Zombie High School
- Slaughter House
- Fearground Freakshow
- Hexed: Lights Outn
If you are picking houses to visit, Eerie Estate and Zombie High School should be on your must do list. You should at least visit these as they are really good.
What Shows are the Best?
Make sure you check out Midnight Syndicate: Conspiracy of Shadows, Call of the Scare, Skeleton Crew, Eternal Jamnation. Those shows are very good. Also check out Skin and Bones Band, they do a pretty good job, but this should be lower in terms of priority.
Will all the rides be open on Friday?
All of the rides will NOT be open on Friday. This is due to the popularity of the ride and staffing is more difficult for a Friday night. The list below signifies rides that will be open on Friday.
- Blue Streak
- Cadillac Cars*
- Cedar Downs*
- Kiddy Kingdom (closes at 10 p.m.)sLake Erie Eagles
- Magnum XL-200
- Midway Carousel*
- Millennium Force*
- Cedar Creek Mine Ride
- Ocean Motion*
- Pipe Scream
- Planet Snoopy (closes at 10 p.m.)
- Steel Vengeance*
- Top Thrill Dragster
- Wave Swinger
Platinum Passholders and resort guests may enjoy the attractions with a * next to them 1 hour before the park opens, at 5 p.m.
Where Should I Eat?
Places I recommend in no particular order. Most are full-service restaurants.

- Perkins Restaurant & Bakery (In Hotel Breakers)
- T.G.I. Friday’s (In Hotel Breakers)
- TOMO (In Hotel Breakers)
- Johnny Rockets
- Mrs. Keat’s Smokehouse
- Sidewinder Sue’s
- Melt Bar & Grilled
What is a Good Agenda to Get Everything Done
For Friday, an agenda will be very helpful for you to be able to get a lot done.
Saturday, an agenda will also be helpful to help you plan out your day.
For Sunday, do not bother making an agenda. The rides and houses do not normally have long waits so it is easier to not plan.
If you have Early Entry, take advantage of it. You should ride Steel Vengeance, Maverick, Millennium Force, and others. Get to Top Thrill Dragster if possible at 6 p.m. so you don’t have to wait. Don’t wait until later unless it is not open – you will risk not riding it
Try to ride all of the rides before 8 p.m. Once it is 8 p.m. start at Eerie Estate haunted house and than go to Zombie High School. If you have more time and you want to do haunted attractions, visit Hexed: Lights Out, Slaughter House, Fearground Freakshow, or Deprivation.
If you are hungry, find one of the recommended restaurants further up in the article and find the one nearest to you.
Also try some scare zones like Blood on the Bayou or Cut Throve Cove along the way, if you have time.
The Fright Lane pass will save a lot of time and you will be able to get all of the houses done in an hour.
If you don’t want to do any more Halloween experiences, head for a night ride on Millennium Force, Top Thrill Dragster, Maverick, or Steel Vengeance.
Come to the park for Early Entry to catch any ride on the regular scheduled list for the day.
Ride all of the busy rides in the morning. Try to get Millennium Force, Steel Vengeance, Maverick, and Top Thrill Dragster done. If you do not have Early Entry, I highly suggest that you arrive to the park at 9:30 a.m. so you are ready for the 10:00 a.m. opening time.
Once you are done with the rides, take a break and check out The Cedar Point Beach and grab something to eat at Hotel Breakers (you do not need to stay at the hotel to eat there).
Finish up some more rides and check out experiences along the way.
For Haunt, I highly suggest you get Fright Lane. If you are only able to get one, choose Fright Lane. You have more time to ride the rides and if you arrive early you will be able to do them. The haunted houses open at 6 p.m. and the scare zones open at 8 p.m. Note and understand the times.
Do as many haunted houses that you can from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. If you want to be early in line, around 5:20 p.m. head over to Eerie Estate or Zombie High School (Personally I recommend Eerie Estate) and wait there. You will have a short wait and save time later.
Once 8 p.m., you should be done with the haunted houses in the front of the park (Eerie Estate, Zombie High School, and Hexed: Lights Out). You may have 1 left to go, but at least do Zombie High and Eerie Estate.
Check out the scare zones along the way and take advantage that you just walk through them with no line. You still will enjoy the best ones and save time.
Check out Slaughter House, Fearground Freakshow, and Deprivation in the back of the park. You may not have a lot of time left without Fright Lane – so do Fearground Freakshow and Slaughter House. Deprivation is not worth the wait.
Take a night ride on Steel Vengeance, Maverick, or Millennium Force when in the back of the park.
I hope this guide was helpful and while there are other things you can cover, this article provided good guidelines and the most important key information.
